What an amazing year for comedy. In a year where hipster racism and rape jokes seemed to dominate, we also saw Tig Notaro praised for talking so openheartedly about breast cancer diagnosis and other traumatic experiences at during her show at Largo.
And then watching Conan last night, I see this. Darryl Lenox talking about his visual impairment, his fears about surgery, and his suicidal thoughts. He lets us see how he was able to use his humor to cope with this trauma, and it’s a beautiful, and hilarious, experience to share.
